Charter Commission
In 2016 over 10% of registered voters signed a petition to add the creation of a Charter Commission to the November 6th ballot. Therefore, eight Charter Commissioners were elected, which is one representative from each voting district. The Charter Commission’s responsibility is to prepare and file the charter proposed by it not later than nine (9) months after the date of its initial meeting, or within such extended limit of time as may be authorized by resolution of the legislative body of the county.

October 11, 2022: The Anderson County Charter Commission is having a public hearing on Tuesday, October 18,2022 convening at 6:30 p.m. in Room 312 of the Courthouse in Clinton, TN to discuss the proposed Anderson County Charter.
September 19, 2022: The Anderson County Charter Commission will have a special called meeting on Monday, September 26, 2022 convening at 6:00 p.m. in Room 312 of the Courthouse in Clinton, TN for the purpose of reviewing the Charter educational materials.
August 19, 2022: Anderson County Charter Commission has scheduled a Special Called meeting for August 25, 2022 convening at 6:00 p.m. in Room 312, of the Anderson County Courthouse in Clinton, TN for the purpose of approving the Anderson County Charter Commission August 18, 2022 meeting minutes and any other business to come before this Committee.

August 3, 2022: The Anderson County Charter Commission has scheduled Special Called meetings on August 9, 2022 convening at 5:00 p.m. in Room 118A, August 11, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. in Room 312, August 16, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in Room 312, August 17, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in Room 312, and August 18, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in Room 312, of the Anderson County Courthouse in Clinton, TN for the purpose of finalizing the Anderson County Charter. Please Note: Some meetings may be canceled if not needed.
August 1, 2022: The Anderson County Commission will be accepting resumes to fill the unexpired term of a Charter Commissioner for District 3, which includes Andersonville, Norris, Fairview and Glen Alpine, Clinton, TN Qualifications: TCA §5-5-102 (b) members shall reside within and be qualified voters of the district which they represent. The deadline for submitting a resume is Friday, August 12, 2022 at noon in the County Commission Office room 118 of the Courthouse. County Commissioners will choose the applicants at the next regular scheduled County Commission meeting convening on August 15, 2022 at 6:30 P.M.
