CLINTON—Anderson County Mayor Terry Frank’s office has been contacted by citizens asking about the status of the current bridge project on State Highway 61 (Oliver Springs Highway) in the Marlow Community.

Frank contacted Mark Nagi, Region 1 Communications Officer for the Tennessee Department of Transportation, for an update on this project. Here’s what Nagi told us.

Work on the state construction project, between Bill Key Lane and Old Batley Road, has stopped because of some unforeseen subsurface conditions. Those conditions required the redesign of two footers, according to Nagi.

The construction crew is “about to start back up in a couple of weeks,” Nagi said in an email to Mayor Frank on Tuesday afternoon.

TDOT started the bridge construction project over Brushy Creek in September 2025. The project is scheduled for completion by the end September 2026, according to TDOT.
