The Circuit Court Clerk and his staff assembles and presents to the Circuit/Criminal, General Session and Juvenile Courts a wide variety of judicial information and records, ranging from daily court dockets to long-term records of individual cases. The Circuit Court Clerk also archives and provides public assess to these documents. In addition, the Circuit Court Clerk is responsible for collecting and disbursing court fees and maintaining the county’s law library.
Rex Lynch was elected to the office of Circuit Court Clerk in August 2018. The Circuit Court Clerk serves an important role in the operations of the Circuit/Criminal, General Sessions and Juvenile Courts in Anderson County. The clerk’s responsibilities are outlined in Title 18 of the Tennessee Code Annotated and include:
- Retaining, preserving, and filing all documents pertaining to the cases,
- Create and maintain the dockets for the courts,
- Prepares and issues arraignment notices, summons, subpoenas, and juror summons,
- Collecting fees associated with the Circuit Court, General Sessions, and Juvenile Court.
